Years 5 and 6

Welcome to the Gorefield Year 5 and Year 6 page.

We are The Castle of Tangled Magic Class.

On our class page you will find a summary of learning to include home learning and spellings for this term.  

Children also have the opportunity to becoming reading stars and share their love for reading throughout the school - the children will need to read, at home, for 20 minutes at least 4 times per week.  

Although we no longer have spelling tests the children are working through the Year 5 and 6 Statutory Word list as well as have weekly spelling lessons based around spelling patterns.  They are encouraged to use these words, alongside the powerful vocabulary of Mrs Wordsmith, in both their English and cross curricular work.

The rapid recall of the multiplication tables, and the inverse, is really important in our Math's work so rehearsing them will really help.  The children can all access TT Rockstar's at home with their own log on and also access Mathsframe.co.uk to enjoy math's games and a Multiplication Times tables check.  Every day the children will attempt to progress on their times tables journey, please help them to do this by encouraging them to practice.

PE will be on Wednesdays and Fridays.  Children should come into school in their uniform on these days as normal and bring their kit with them to change into. PE kit should be a plain t shirt in your child's team colour or a plain white one.  Leggings, shorts or tracksuit bottoms should again be plain and black or grey in colour.  Any earrings must be removed by the child before PE.
