Welcome OWLS to our Spring Term.
Our Teacher is Miss S Boor, and our Teaching assistants are Mrs S Howlett, Mrs M Hewitt and Mrs C Stott.
We are going to start the Spring Term with some seriously chocolaty experiments as part of our new topic.
We have lots of exciting things to get on with this term. Experimenting on chocolate bars, designing exciting wrappers along side learning about the history of chocolate from the Maya to Cadbury's. In the first few weeks we will look at what chocolate meant to Mayan society, how the chocolate tree grows and what a chocolate pod looks like. Learning about the benefits of Fairtrade for modern cacao growers, will help us to understand other communities. We will also find out how chocolate changed to make it more tasty and how your chocolate bar today is made. Our class book for the term will be Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and we will be looking at the film.
I've attached some homework ideas which I hope you will all find interesting. Please send in homework books so that we can stick a list of these new ideas into them.
PE will be on Mondays and Thursdays but, with no changing at school, please make sure children come into school in their PE on those days. Please ensure that you have sufficiently warm outdoor kit.
We will still be working in the classroom with doors and windows open so please make sure that all children are warmly dressed for the classroom as well as for PE.
The Daily Mile will continue to happen, come rain or shine, so please remember to bring in wellies for our Wellie Box.
We expect the children to be reading at home daily. Please encourage children to practice their spellings at home since we will be doing a little less practice in the classroom this term.
Be Ready, Be Safe, Be Responsible - here's to a great term.
