Caring, sharing, thinking, learning

Eva Garret Anderson

Summer Term 2022

Our topic this summer is The Ancient Greeks.  The term will begin with a topic day: we will dress up as ancient Greeks and have fun exploring Greek life.  This topic will provide a fantastic platform for history and geography learning.  We will look at the key events, people and locations.

In English, our first unit is based on the text 'Theseus and the Minotaur' by Hugh Lupton.  This classic tale will lead us to an independent write of our own Greek myth.  We will continue to practise Y3 and Y4 statutory spellings in class and most Y3 children will also be learning common exception words for a weekly test.

Maths lessons continue with fractions for both year groups.  Children will be practising times tables regularly at school and your support with this at home will really boost your child's progress.  Every child has a login for TTRS; other useful websites are Times Table checker and Hit The Button.  Y4 children will be participating in the statutory times table check at the beginning of June.

We will continue to build opportunities for children to read, as this is such a valuable skill for their understanding and their writing development.  If you are able to find time, please read with your child at home (reading to them as well as listening to them).

Other subjects:

Science - sound

R.E. - pilgrimages

P.E. (Monday and Thursday) athletics

Art - Greek vases

P.S.H.E. - diverse Britain

Music - Bring Us Together

Ancient Greece Knowledge Organiser

Anderon Class arrived at school with fabulous, colourful Roald Dahl spoons, ready for a fun World Book Day. We participated in the live lesson on BBC Teach, told stories to the class, listened to Miss Boor reading from 'George's Marvellous Medicine, and drew book characters on the computers in ICT.

Welcome to Eva Garrett Anderson - Spring 2022

We are looking forward to a great year ahead. My name is Miss Boor and I will be your teacher this year. Working with us are our learning assistants - Mrs Bramley Miss Wakeham. Our topic this Spring term will be Mysterious Rainforests and we have lots of exciting learning planned- Do you already know any facts about our world's rainforests?

Our English will include a number of experience lessons and continuing to build on our writing and vocabulary skills, working our way to the independent write.   We will use the rainforests to inform some of our writing.

In maths we are continuing with multiplication and division and then moving on to length, perimeter and money.

Times tables are a very important area of our learning. The children have logins for Times Tables Rock Stars, which is brilliant for practicing their times tables.

In science this term, we will be looking at living things. Our learning will include going on an invertebrate hunt and classifying vertebrates.

I've attached some homework ideas which I hope you will all find interesting.  Please can homework books be sent in the Monday before the end of each half-term.

PE will be Mondays and Thursdays but, with no changing at school, please make sure children come into school in their PE kit on those days.  Please ensure that you have sufficiently warm outdoor kit.

We will still be working in the classroom with doors and windows open so please make sure that all children are warmly dressed for the classroom as well as for PE.

We expect the children to be reading at home daily.  Please encourage children to practice their spellings at home since we will be doing a little less practice in the classroom this term.

Be Ready, Be Safe, Be Responsible - here's to another great term!

Welcome Eva Garrett Anderson class.  Autumn Term.

Our Teacher is Miss S Boor, and our Learning assistants are Mrs Emma Bramley and Miss Amy Wakeham.

We are going to start the Autumn Term with work on our topic Kings and Queens.

I've attached some homework ideas which I hope you will all find interesting.  Please send in homework books so that we can stick a list of these new ideas into them.

PE will be on Mondays and Thursdays, but with no changing at school please make sure children come into school in their PE on those days.  Please ensure that you have sufficiently warm outdoor kit.

We will still be working in the classroom with doors and windows open so please make sure that all children are warmly dressed for the classroom as well as for PE.

We expect the children to be reading at home daily as well as regularly practising their times tables (your child will have a login for ttrockstars).  Please encourage children to practice their reading and times tables at home since this will give them a good foundation to enable them to feel confident in the classroom. We will be doing a little less practice in the classroom this term.

In English, we are beginning with a narrative writing unit based on the book 'The Happy Prince' by Jane Ray.  In maths, we are building on our understanding of number and place value, before moving on to addition and subtraction, and then multiplication and division.  For the first half term, in science, we will be learning about some of the great scientists and inventors in history. We will then find out all about teeth and digestion.

Be Ready, Be Safe, Be Responsible - here's to a great term.
